SUBARNAPUR —– We have come to our notice that a junior engineer has been suspended on charges of embezzlement of government funds. According to the information received, junior engineer Supriya Guru has been suspended in the name of embezzlement of lakhs of rupees in the name of improvement of Khapuripur to Baimantikira and Khapuripur to Rajnagar roads of Raksa Gram Panchayat under Ulunda block of Subarnapur district. Earlier, the Subarnapur Collector suspended PEO Sitaram Tripathy and ADEO Himanshu Shekhar Khamari in this corruption case, while the then Collector Dr. Nruparaj Sahu recommended disciplinary action against Supriya Guru, the then Junior Engineer ( EX JE )of Ulunda block and present working in Sonpur block. According to the information, a total of about 12 lakh rupees was spent on this road under the MGNREGA scheme. The manipulation was done. After the District Magistrate investigated the incident, the truth came to light. Earlier, the Collector had suspended the PEO and ADEO in this corruption incident and had recommended the Panchayat Raj Department to take action against the junior engineer and the EO. On the recommendation of the Collector it is learnt that the Panchayat Raj Department has suspended Supriya Guru vide letter no. 27301 / 24/09/2026. As per the instructions issued by the Panchayati Raj Department of the Government of Odisha, the suspended junior engineer cannot leave the district headquarters without the prior permission of the CDO cum EO Zilla Parishad.
