Mysuru, 2/8: Karnataka on Saturday released around 10,000 cusecs of water from the Kabini reservoir towards Tamil Nadu following heavy rainfall in its catchment area, including Wayanad in Kerala and Kodagu.
Till Saturday afternoon, the officials managing the Kabini dam, located in Mysuru district, were releasing only 4,000 cusecs of water. However, with the inflow to the reservoir increasing to around 16,000-18,000 cusecs, the dam authorities decided to release around 10,000 cusecs. The development comes at a crucial time when Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are at loggerheads over the release of Cauvery water.
