Bhubaneswar, 21 September 2026: The ICAR–Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIFA), Bhubaneswar, organised a Kavi Sammelan (Poets’ Meet) and Self-Composed Poetry Recitation Competition on 21 September 2026 as part of the ICAR–Reform Utsav and Hindi Pakhwada–2026. The programme was organised with great enthusiasm and fervour.The objective of the programme was to encourage interest in Hindi and creative expression among the officers, employees and research scholars of the Institute, and to promote the wider use of Rajbhasha Hindi in official work. The programme commenced with the welcome address by Dr. Nitish Kumar Chandan, Senior Scientist and Officer-in-Charge, Rajbhasha. He welcomed the Director of the Institute, invited poets, officers, employees, research scholars and participants, and expressed his gratitude for their enthusiastic participation. He urged everyone to promote the use of
Rajbhasha Hindi in their day-to-day official work. The major attraction of the programme was the presence of invited poets Shri Kishan Khandelwal (Author and Poet), Shri Ashish Kumar Shah (Humor Poet), Ms. Smita Kanungo (Poet and Author), and Shri Anup Agrawal (Poet). The invited poets captivated the audience with their beautiful, humorous, inspirational and emotional poetic compositions, creating a vibrant literary and cultural atmosphere during the programme. The programme was compered by Shri H. L. Meena, Chief Administrative Officer, ICAR-CIFA. Along with his effective and engaging compering, he also presented his self-composed poems, which were highly appreciated by the audience. The programme was presided over by Dr. Shiv Shankar Giri, Director-in-Charge, ICAR-CIFA. In his presidential address, he highlighted the importance and relevance of Hindi in the administrative as well as scientific activities of the Institute. He encouraged the officers and employees to make greater use of Hindi in their official work and called upon them to participate actively and enthusiastically in such programmes. On the occasion, officers, employees and research scholars of the Institute also presented their self-composed poems, expressing their emotions and creative talents. Their presentations added further vibrancy and interest to the programme. The officers and employees of the Institute participated enthusiastically and thoroughly enjoyed the literary presentations. At the conclusion of the programme, Shri H. L. Meena, Chief Administrative Officer, proposed the vote of thanks and expressed his gratitude to the invited poets, the Director of the Institute, officers, employees and students for their valuable participation. He also thanked all those who contributed to the successful organisation of the programme. Overall, the programme was a meaningful initiative towards promoting Hindi language, literature and creative expression, while also encouraging the wider use of Rajbhasha Hindi in the day-to- day official work of the Institute.
