SUBARNAPUR, 21/7— Having links with the ganja mafia has cost former IIC of Manamunda PS Boudh district, Sasmita Magar dearly. The Director General of Police ( DGP) suspended her on Monday as a disciplinary action. She will remain under the disciplinary control of the ( SR )IG, Berhampur, till the suspension order remains in force. When IIC Mrs. Magar was working as the Manamunda police station officer of Boudh district, a container loaded with ganja was seized from the area of Subalaya police station of Birmaharajpur sub – division of Subarnapur district. The police seized the ganja and arrested the accused. After the arrest, the accused was questioned for investigation and their mobile phones were checked. After seeing the WhatsApp chat of one of the accused, it was found that Manamunda police station officer Sasmita was involved in it. It was found that there was a conversation. The Subarnapur Supdt. Of Police informed the Boudh Supdt. Of Police through a letter (Letter No. 36/Con./17/3/2026). Subsequently, Mrs. Magar was transferred to Boudh Police Headquarters. In addition, the Boudh Supdt. Of Police sought her apology through a letter (No. 463/Con./04/04/2026). In the said incident, the Office of the Police DG has suspended her from service as a disciplinary measure vide letter No. 2615/Pers./20/7/2026. It is worth noting that Boudh district has become a haven for the ganja mafia. As per the instructions of the state government, the district police is sensitizing the people at the grassroots level to prevent ganja cultivation and smuggling. However, since the dishonest police and excise department employees are in touch with the mafia, Ganja cultivation and smuggling are not stopping in Boudh district.
