Lok Sabha strength should be fixed at 543 for next 25 years’: Congress on delimitation

New Delhi, 19/8: Congress on Wednesday made it clear that it is not for any increase in the number of Lok Sabha seats from the existing 543 for the next 25 years, as the Modi government insists on amending the Constitution for a new delimitation regime inwhich the number rises up to 850.The party’s stand came at a nearly four-hour-long meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) chaired by party president Mallikarjun Kharge and attended by senior leaders like Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, K C Venugopal, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra among others.
