Migrant Odia Woman and Daughter Killed in Mumbai Road Mishap

A woman and her daughter from Odisha’s Nabarangpur district lost their lives in a road accident near Pune while returning from Mumbai.The victims have been identified as Simrat Nayak and her daughter Pallavi Nayak of Binjiguda village under Dhandra Panchayat in Nandahandi block.According to reports, Simrat and Pallavi had been working as migrant labourers in Bengaluru. They had travelled to Mumbai to visit Simrat’s sister Diparani Nayak, who resides there. While returning by car to Bengaluru, the duo met with a fatal accident about two hours from Pune.Simrat died on the spot, while Pallavi was rushed to hospital in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries.Family sources said Diparani Nayak is bringing the bodies back to their native village, Binjiguda, for the final rites. The tragic incident has cast a pall of gloom over the community, where neighbours recall the mother and daughter’s struggle to earn a livelihood away from home.
