This year, National Sports Day is being celebrated in Subarnapur district, commemorating the birth anniversary of the great hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. On this occasion, various sports-related programs are being organized in Subarnapur district from August 28 to 30.
On the second day of National Sports Day, dated 29.08.2026,
“Ek Ghanta Khel Ke Maidan Mein” Fancy Hockey Match was held at the Dakshinpali Hockey Stadium at 3.30 pm.
Additional District Magistrate (General) Smt. Anjalina Pradhan inaugurated the match as the chief guest. The guests of honor were Assistant Collector (Complaints) Ms. Priyadarshini Sahu, Assistant Collector (Record Room) Smt. Jyotirmayee Mallik, District Cultural Officer cum I/C District Information and Public Relations Officer Smt. Yamuna Pradhan, PTI Sports India Mr. Mohammed Kalim were present.
On this occasion, District Sports Officer Mr. Chittaranjan Mishra welcomed all the guests and garlanded the photo of the great hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. Then the chief guest delivered his speech and interacted with all the hockey players. All took an oath to stay physically and mentally healthy by playing sports.
Trinamool Dakshinapali Hockey Institute, Ulunda Coach Mr. Azambar Rajpalia, Assistant Coach All the hockey players including Subhash Barla were present.
