Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik has demanded the resignation of School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond, citing widespread errors in textbooks used by children across Odisha. Patnaik stressed that Gond should set an example by stepping down, similar to Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s precedent in the past.Patnaik remarked, “Children’s textbooks in Odisha contain numerous mistakes. Such negligence cannot be tolerated.” He insisted that Gond resign from his ministerial post to uphold responsibility in governance.For the past two to three weeks, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has also been pressing for Gond’s resignation over the issue. The controversy has triggered public debate, with parents and educators voicing concern about the impact of flawed textbooks on students’ learning.
