Newly built ₹1-crore shed collapses at Rourkela Railway Station, vehicles damaged

Rourkela: A newly constructed shed at the Rourkela Railway Station collapsed on Monday morning, damaging a car and a tempo parked under it. The incident took place around 9 am near the station’s main entrance.The shed, reportedly built at a cost of around ₹1 crore, had been constructed only a few months ago. It was intended to provide shelter to passengers and vehicle users from the sun and rain.The sudden collapse caused panic among passengers and others present at the spot. Several people reportedly ran to safety as the structure came down. Fortunately, there were no immediate reports of any passenger being injured in the incident.However, the debris fell on a car and a tempo parked below the shed, causing damage to both vehicles.The incident has raised serious questions over the quality of the construction. Locals claimed that concerns had earlier been raised over the quality of the shed being constructed near the station’s main entrance.
