Odisha initiated the process for appointing a new Director General of Police as Y B Khurania’s two-year tenure ends on August 16.The Odisha police headquarters forwarded a panel of three senior officers to the state government. The list includes Sudhanshu Sarangi, Susanta Kumar Nath, and R P Koche. The state government will submit the panel to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) next month for empanelment.The UPSC will convene the Empanelment Committee to assess the officers. The committee evaluates service records, disciplinary history, and leadership experience before finalising the panel. The state government will then appoint the new DGP from the UPSC-approved list.Y B Khurania completes his tenure on August 16. The transition ensures continuity in leadership at the Odisha police headquarters. The appointment process follows established guidelines to maintain transparency and merit-based selection.
