Bhubaneswar, Sept 25: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved the suspension of two senior state officials in connection with separate legal matters.The suspended officials are Arun Kumar Biswal, Additional Secretary of the Commerce and Transport Department, and Sujit Kumar Roul, Senior Superintendent of Cuttack Circle Jail. Both officers had been arrested and were in judicial custody.As per government service rules, a public servant who remains in custody or detention for more than 48 hours is liable to be suspended. Since both officials had crossed the 48-hour threshold, the Chief Minister approved the suspension proposals submitted by the concerned departments.The decision was confirmed by the Chief Minister’s Office on Thursday.Further legal proceedings in the respective cases and departmental action will continue as per the applicable rules.
