Police destroys 83.79 tonnes of Ganja.
SUBARNAPUR —In a major crackdown on illegal Ganja cultivation and trafficking, Boudh district police has achieved a significant milestone under ” Operation Dahan ” by completing four rounds of Ganja destruction and achieving 100 percent of its targeted disposal. A total of 83,790.155 kg ( 83.79 tonnes ) of Ganja has been destroyed during the four phase which costs Rs. 419 crores approximately. During the first three phases, Boudh district police destroyed a cumulative 71,131.555kg of Ganja. In the fourth phase, which commenced on October 3,2026,and continued on subsequent days, another 12,658.600 kg of Ganja was destroyed at the Balangir Incinerator. The latest disposal was carried out after obtaining the requisite Certificate under Section 52-A of the NDPS Act from the courts. The process was undertaken under the supervision of the S. P. Boudh, who also serves as the Chairman of the District Drug Disposal Committee, ensuring compliance with statutory provisions and maintaining transparency throughout the disposal process. The succesful operation was the result of coordinated efforts by Additional Superintendent of Police, Boudh, DSP Crime, SDPO, all seven Inspectors – in – Charge and four Outpost personnel, under the leadership of the S. P. Boudh. With four rounds of destruction successfully completed, Boudh district police has achieved 100 percent of the target fixed for the district, making a significant step forward in its sustained campaign against illegal narcotic activities. The district police has resolved to adopt a proactive and periodic approach towards the disposal of seized narcotic substances while ensuring greater transparency and accountability in the functioning of police stations. The department has also reiterated its determination to continue such initiatives in the future with renewed vigour. The ” Operation Dahan ” initiative is expected to further strengthen public confidence and trust in the functioning of police stations, while demonstrating Boudh police’s commitment to transparent, accountable and effective policing. The destrctionu of 83.79 tonnes of Ganja represents a significant achievement for Boudh district police and underscores its continud resolve to combat the illegal narcotics trade and contribute towards a safer and more secure society.
