Bhubaneswar: More than 1.03 crore eligible women beneficiaries under Subhadra scheme will receive the fifth instalment Friday. A 1,03,26,162 beneficiaries are eligible to receive Rs 5,000 each through direct benefit transfer (DBT), involving a total transfer of more than Rs 5,160 crore, an official said.The instalment will be disbursed at a special programme in Nayagada district Friday. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who also holds the Women and Child Development portfolio, highlighted the steps being taken by the state government to ensure the seamless and timely transfer of the fifth Subhadra instalment to all eligible beneficiaries.Parida directed officials and banking representatives to complete the DBT process within the stipulated time and strengthen banking arrangements to ensure beneficiaries do not face difficulties in receiving the assistance.The Deputy CM had recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and apprised him of the “success” of women-centric schemes in Odisha. Subhadra scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bhubaneshwar September 17, 2024, after the BJP came to power in the eastern state.Under the flagship women-centric programme, eligible beneficiaries will receive Rs 50,000 over five years, with Rs 10,000 provided annually in two equal instalments.
