Rayagada’s Maa Majhighariani Temple Hundi Opened Amid Tight Security

Rayagada: Nine donation boxes (hundis) of Rayagada’s presiding deity Maa Majhighariani Temple were opened today after a gap of two months.As per report, the hundis were opened at 10 AM today amid tight police security in the presence of officials of the Endowment Department, local Tahasildar, RI, and members of the temple management committee. Counting is underway with more than 100 personnel engaged in the process. The counting team includes women and male volunteers from various organizations and some students.SHG women members engaged in counting said they feel fortunate to be part of the process. The temple committee is expecting a collection of more than Rs 50 lakh this time. The counting, which started at 10 am, is still in progress. The collected amount will be deposited in the Rayagada Union Bank.It is learnt that the interest earned from the donation amount will be spent on the peripheral development of the temple and for the facilities of the devotees visiting the shrine, the Trust of the temple management committee said.It may be noted that on June 29, 2026, about 6 months ago, a total of Rs 1 crore 26 lakh 26 thousand 854 including Rs 1 crore 22 lakh 29 thousand 623 in cash from 9 hundis and Rs 3 lakh 97 thousand 231 through UPI, along with 32 grams of gold, 1 kg 300 grams of silver and 9 foreign currencies were collected.
