Revenue & Disaster Management Minister Inaugurates Smart Classroom, Distributes Bicycles to Girl Students, and Opens New School Building

IB Thermal  : Reinforcing its commitment to improve educational infrastructure and learning outcomes in rural communities, Odisha Power Generation Corporation Ltd. (OPGC) today dedicated three major CSR initiatives to the people of the peripheral villages of IB Thermal Power Station.

During his visit to Lakhanpur Block, Hon’ble Minister for Revenue & Disaster Management, Govt. of Odisha Sri Suresh Pujari inaugurated a Smart Classroom established by OPGC at Arjun Gupta Girls’ High School, Phatapali, under Tilia Gram Panchayat. Addressing students, teachers and local residents, the Minister appreciated OPGC’s sustained efforts in promoting quality education through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes. As part of its initiative to enhance digital learning opportunities for rural students, OPGC has installed Smart Classroom infrastructure in 10 schools across the peripheral Gram Panchayats of IB Thermal Power Station at Banharpali, Jharsuguda district with a total budget of ₹.32 lakhs. The project is aimed at providing students with access to modern teaching-learning tools and technology-enabled education, particularly in schools that previously lacked such facilities.

On the occasion, the Hon’ble Minister also distributed bicycles to 30 girl students of Arjun Gupta Girls’ High School. OPGC has been extending comprehensive support to this school for the past 14 years, including financial assistance for teaching staff, development of school buildings and educational infrastructure, provision of teaching-learning materials, sports equipment, and other academic support measures.

Later in the day, the Hon’ble Minister inaugurated a newly constructed classroom building at Kumbharbandh Primary School, developed under OPGC’s CSR programme at a cost of ₹.37 lakh. The new facility is expected to provide a better learning environment and improve educational infrastructure for the students of the school. Mr. Anjana Ranjan Dash, Director (Operations), OPGC, attended the programmes along with Mr. Sukanta Mohapatra, Senior Vice President (Operations), and Mr. Prafulla Kumar Dhal, Head–CSR, OPGC.

Among other dignitaries present were Ms. Pushpanjali Pradhan, Sarpanch, Tilia Gram Panchayat; Mr. Raghunandan Panda, District President, BJP; Mr. Rajendra Sahu, Block Education Officer; and Mr. Samal Nayak, Chairperson, SDC, Jharsuguda.
