.Based on a tip-off regarding collection of bribes from various contractors, Sri Prasanjit Das, Superintending Engineer, Mahanadi Northern Division, Jagatpur, Kataka was intercepted by Odisha Vigilance late last night near AG Chowk, Bhubaneswar while he was travelling in his officially hired Bolero Vehicle, and unaccounted suspected illgotten cash of Rs.7,28,620/- was found in his possession.
Following his interception, simultaneous searches were conducted early morning today at his rented house at Flat No. D-401, Trident Galaxy, Ghatikia, Bhubaneswar and paternal house at Baragada. During search of his rented flat, further cash of Rs.14,60,000/- has been recovered.
As Sri Das, SE, could not satisfactorily account for such huge cash amounting to Rs 21,88,620/-, the same has been seized. He has been detained for further investigation and is being interrogated further to ascertain the source of the cash.
In this connection Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No. 24 dtd.16.10.2026 u/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b) PC Act, 1988 as amended by PC Act, 2018 has been registered and under investigation.
