Baleshwar: In a disturbing incident, over seven children were hospitalised after a dead lizard was allegedly found in the food served at an Anganwadi centre in Baleshwar district. The affected children have been admitted to Simulia hospital for treatment.The incident occurred at the Anganwadi centre in Badagahama village under Maitapur panchayat in Simulia block.According to reports, the children were served their regular meal when one of them noticed something unusual while eating. Initially suspecting it to be a vegetable, the child checked closely and discovered it was a dead lizard in the food.Panic spread among the children and staff following the discovery. Concerned parents rushed their children to Simulia hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Doctors stated that the condition of the children is stable.The incident has triggered anger among parents, who have alleged negligence on the part of the Anganwadi worker. They have demanded strict action against those responsible for the lapse in food safety.Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
