Investigators uncovered new details in the Soumya murder case after an audio clip from the victim’s girlfriend surfaced, revealing a dispute between Soumya and his friend Om. The audio suggested that Soumya and Om had disagreements over money linked to a local gym. According to the girlfriend, Soumya argued with the gym owner over payments, and Om later left the gym as well. The clip indicated that Om discouraged other members from visiting the gym, claiming it had closed, which led to further tension between the two friends.Crime Branch Director General Vinaytosh Mishra confirmed that the investigation team identified several individuals through digital evidence and mobile data. Officers included all those present during the incident within the scope of inquiry. Mishra stated that technology helped trace suspects, and arrests followed based on verified digital proof.So far, police have arrested 18 people in connection with the case. The number may rise as the investigation progresses. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) continues to monitor the probe closely.Soumya’s girlfriend appeared before the commission yesterday, along with several officers from Balipatna police station and the Crime Branch. Investigators recorded Om’s statement and expect new insights from the girlfriend’s testimony.
