Student From Gujarat Critically Burnt While Taking Selfie On Train At Mancheswar Station

Bhubaneswar: In yet another tragic incident highlighting the dangerous trend of taking selfies and reels in risky locations, a young man was severely electrocuted after climbing atop a train carriage at Mancheswar railway station in Bhubaneswar.The victim, a diploma student from Gujarat, came in contact with a high-voltage 33 KV overhead electric wire while attempting to take a selfie. He suffered serious burns on his hands and head.According to reports, the youth had completed his summer vacation and was boarding the train to return to his village in Gujarat. In a reckless act, he climbed on the roof of the train coach to click photographs or make a reel, leading to the accident. He was immediately rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, where he is undergoing treatment in critical condition.Railway authorities have condemned the incident and appealed to passengers, especially youngsters, to avoid such life-threatening acts for social media content. Railway police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
