Bhubaneswar: Former Sarankul police station IIC Sujit Kumar Das, is reportedly absconding in connection with a rape case.The High Court also rejected his anticipatory bail plea and directed him to surrender before the lower court. Following the withdrawal of interim protection, Das is reportedly absconding fearing arrest.Sujeet was suspended after he was accused of raping a woman. A case of rape was registered at Sharankul police station and the police team started an investigation into the matter. The case was then handed over to the CAW of the Crime Branch.During its investigation, the Crime Branch reportedly established the credibility of the allegations and gained preliminary evidence against Das. He subsequently approached the High Court seeking anticipatory bail and was granted interim protection.As directed by the court, Das later appeared before the Crime Branch. The investigating agency conducted a medical examination of Sujeet and recorded his statement.However, the agency sought withdrawal of his interim protection and submitted the relevant facts and evidence before the High Court.After hearing the matter on August 20, the High Court withdrew the interim protection granted to Das.
