Bhubaneswar, September 25, 2025: TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), a joint
venture of Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, has announced special safety measures to
ensure a secure and uninterrupted power supply during the Dussehra festivities. With thousands
of puja pandals, cultural programmes and festive stalls coming up across Central Odisha, TPCODL
has reaffirmed its commitment to public safety and urged organisers, vendors and citizens to
strictly follow the prescribed guidelines.
Puja committees and shop owners can avail temporary electricity connections from TPCODL’s
Section, Sub-Division, or Division offices. The company strongly discourages illegal hooking, as it
poses serious safety hazards, including transformer overload, short circuits, fire risks and possible
power disruptions during the festive season.
Organisers have also been advised to engage licensed electricians, ensure proper wiring without
joints, provide earthing of electrical setups and use RCCB devices of 30 mA cut-off rating for
protection against electric shocks. Puja committees are also encouraged to opt for LED lights,
avoid overloading sockets, refrain from using substandard materials and keep fire extinguishers
ready at pandals.
Citizens are advised to maintain a safe distance from poles, transformers and overhead lines.
Decorations and flags should be kept away from wires and metallic rods must not be used for flags.
Extra caution should be taken around electrical installations, especially during processions and idol
immersions. Additionally, firecrackers must never be burst near transformers or substations to
prevent accidents.
Regular inspection of connections and immediate replacement of damaged wires is strongly
recommended. To ensure timely support, TPCODL has strengthened its 24×7 Call Centre (1912 /
1800-345-7122) for quick assistance in case of supply disruptions or emergencies.
