SUBARNAPUR, 14/4— On Tuesday at around 08.30 pm, Sonepur Police Station SI Anil Behera along with the police personnel while patrolling in the Sonepur Police Station area, suspiciously stopped a black Mahindra Scorpio with registration number OD -34 Z 1919 near Block Chhak. While checking the Scorpio , the police team found a blue carry bag in the possession of Abhilash Purushottam Satapathy@Libun (21) of Jakhapur village in Jajpur district and Prashant Das (34) of Mardarajpur village in Nayagarh district. On checking the said bag, 1695 pieces of FICN notes (fake Indian currency notes) of Rs. 500/-(Rs. 8,47,500/) were seized from the said carry bag. During interrogation, the two accused revealed that they collected it from Bargarh district and were circulating FICN in Subarnapur district and other areas. In this regard, a case has been registered at Sonepur Police Station Case No. 126 dated 14/04/2026 U/s-178/179/180/61(2)BNS Act. This was informed in a press conference held at Subarnapur District Police Head Quarter on Wednesday by Supdt. Of Police Narayan Nayak. Today, the two accused have been arrested and produced before the Honorable Court and the case is under investigation, police sources said.
