Balasore: The Forest Department conducted a raid against suspected poaching activities in Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary in Balasore district and arrested two people. Acting on a tip-off, forest officials carried out a surprise raid in the Khumkut area and apprehended Nandia Murmu and Shyam Singh. According to sources, the two had allegedly been involved in illegal hunting activities in the sanctuary and had previously evaded capture. During the operation, the Forest Department seized a country-made gun, a snare, gunpowder, and a bow and arrows from the accused. The two arrested persons were subsequently produced before a court. The raid comes amid concerns over alleged poaching activities in the Kuldiha area. Following the arrests, the Forest Department has intensified patrolling and surveillance across the sanctuary. Officials said strict monitoring is being maintained to track the movement of suspected poachers and prevent illegal hunting and other wildlife-related offences inside the protected forest area.
