Bhawanipatana/Th.Rampur, 27/6;Utkal Alumina International Limited (UAIL), a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries Limited under the Aditya Birla Group, has taken another significant step towards strengthening rural livelihoods through the successful implementation of Project Udyamee 2.0. The initiative, implemented in coordination with the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), focuses on promoting entrepreneurship and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities across the region.
As part of this initiative, a Fly Ash Brick Manufacturing Unit was inaugurated at Adri village under Thuamulrampur Block, Kalahandi district. The unit was formally inaugurated by Mr. Avijit, Head – CSR, Hindalco Industries, in the presence of Mr. Shiba Shankar Mohapatra, CSR Cluster Head – Odisha & Downstream, and Ms. Lopamudra Mishra, Head – CSR, UAIL.
In addition, UAIL also inaugurated three group-based enterprises under Project Udyamee 2.0: Namkeen Production Unit at Nuagaon, Food Processing Unit at Bariaguda, Carpentry Unit at Naktiguda. These enterprises are designed to foster alternative livelihood opportunities, enhance income generation, and support inclusive rural development in the project area. The newly established units are expected to, Generate direct as well as indirect employment opportunities. Encourage and motivate youth and local communities to adopt self-employment and entrepreneurship, promote business generation at the grassroots level, ensure quality products and services are available at the doorstep, reducing dependency on distant markets, Contribute to the overall development of the rural economy.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Avijit, Head – CSR emphasized that such interventions aim to build community resilience, economic independence, and skill-based entrepreneurship ecosystems in rural areas. Project Udyamee 2.0 reflects UAIL’s continued commitment to empowering communities through skill development, enterprise promotion, and market linkage support, aligned with its broader vision of inclusive growth and responsible development.
