Vigilance officials placed Mancheswar police ASI Rajesh Kullu and associate Jyotiranjan Behera on a two-day remand starting Monday in connection with a bribery case.Investigators are questioning both men about the Rs 1 lakh bribe demand linked to a fraud case.Preliminary findings suggest that the Rs 50,000 received by Kullu was shared among other police personnel. Vigilance has begun tracing this distribution and will conduct voice sample tests to match the call records provided by the complainant with the ASI’s voice.According to the complaint, Kullu demanded Rs 1 lakh to release an accused from custody, return two seized mobile phones, and assist in the chargesheet. He had already collected Rs 80,000 through two home guards and was caught while accepting another Rs 20,000 along with Behera.Following the arrest, the Commissionerate Police dismissed Kullu from service. The two home guards involved were suspended for one month.
