Violation of Lyngdoh Committee Recommendations at Autonomous College, Phulbani, Kandhamal

At Autonomous College, Phulbani, Kandhamal, ABVP cadres were allegedly found putting up banners and distributing food through stalls in front of the college premises ahead of the upcoming Student Union Elections. Such activities raise serious concerns regarding compliance with the Lyngdoh Committee Recommendations governing student union elections.

Following the intervention of Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) student leaders of Kandhamal, the food stalls were reportedly removed.

The incident raises concerns about the alleged use of food distribution and unauthorised campaigning to influence students ahead of the elections. The concerned college authorities and election officials should ensure strict and impartial enforcement of the Lyngdoh Committee Recommendations and provide a fair, transparent and level playing field for all student organisations.

Student elections must be conducted through democratic participation, fair campaigning and respect for established rules not through practices that may compromise electoral fairness.
