Paradip : The World AIDS Day was observed at PPA Hospital with the theme “Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response”. It emphasises the need to not only preserve past progress but transform HIV services to make them more resilient, equitable, and community-led. This theme highlights the urgency of addressing disruptions caused by pandemics, conflicts, and inequalities that limit access to care. India marks World AIDS Day each year through nationwide awareness campaigns, community outreach activities, and renewed government commitments led by the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
On this occasion, PPA Hospital organised a walkathon as a part of IEC activity to create awareness about AIDS among the denizens of the Port Township starting at PPA Hospital and ending at the Officers Club. Chairman, PPA Shri P L Haranadh administered the Pledge on the occasion to the gathering and flagged off the Walkathon. Shri T. Venu Gopal , Dy. Chairman , PPA , Doctors, paramedical staff of the PPA Hospital along with HoDs of the PPA, CISF personnel, Volunteers of Paradip Saksharta Samiti, volunteers of NGOs (IRDMS & CASD) working on AIDS, transgender, and general public participated with enthusiasm. All the staff of PPA Hospital, Saksharata Samiti and Volunteers wore symbolic red ribbons to commemorate the occasion.
