New Delhi, October 11: Operations at the King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh were suspended following a reported attack that left 12 people dead and 309 injured, amid escalating security concerns in Saudi Arabia.The Houthi militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack, reportedly the third targeting the airport this week. The incident has disrupted air traffic, with several flights diverted to other airports and some aircraft returning to their points of origin.As per reports, the victims include four Saudi nationals, two Bangladeshis and one national each from the United States, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Sudan and Egypt. Reports of explosions and smoke emerged from the area around Terminal 3 following the attack. Videos circulating on social media showed debris and dust scattered across the terminal floor.Saudi civil aviation authorities said airport operations had been temporarily halted to allow officials to assess the damage and complete security checks. Passengers have been advised to confirm their flight status with their respective airlines before travelling to the airport.Flight-tracking service Flightradar24 showed no arrivals or departures at the airport on Saturday afternoon. The latest incident follows two reported attacks on Thursday that allegedly killed three Saudi nationals and injured several others, taking the number of reported strikes on the airport this week to three.The developments have raised concerns over the safety of civilian aviation and international air travel in the region. The Houthi group’s reported claim of responsibility has also heightened concerns over the security situation surrounding Saudi Arabia.
