SUBARNAPUR— In nine months, 132 cases have been registered in Subarnapur district and 176 accused have been arrested. Due to the strong efforts of Subarnapur politowards the Drug-Free Odisha campaign and the suppression mission, a large-scale crackdown on the smuggling of ganja is being carried out in the district. In this context, a total of 3 NDPS cases have been registered on 27/09/26. Sonpur police have seized ganja, cough syrup, air pistol and cash, a car (No. OD -08M-4476) and a Pulser motorcycle (No. OD -31C- 9684) from a house. In addition, two people have been detained, according to police sources. According to the information received, a team of Sonpur police station in Subarnapur district raided the house of accused Rajesh Mishra in Janamura village. During the search, the police team seized 41.15 kg of ganja, 380 (WINCEREX) bottles of cough syrup, 1 air pistol and cash of ₹1,19,000/-, a Swift Dizire car and a Pulser motorcycle. The owner of the house could not present any valid document or legal reason to the police regarding the possession of the above seized items. In this regard, a case has been registered under Sonpur Police Case No.343/27/09/2026,U/s- 20( b)(ii)( C)/25/29/21( b)NDPS Act /25 ARMS Act. and the investigation into the incident is underway. In this case, two accused, Rajesh Mishra (30), son of Balamkunda Mishra of Janamura village under Sonpur police station in Subarnapur district, and Karan Prasad (21), son of Chunbad Prasad of Karbi Chitrakote in Chitrakote district of Uttar Pradesh, have been arrested and will be produced in court on Monday, police sources said. Further investigation is underway in this case by the police. Similarly, the Birmaharajpur police of the district have seized 82.6 kg of ganja, one Maruti Grand Vitara (No. OD -02CF-5111) and Rs 20,000 in cash. In this case, Amarjeet Singh (24), son of Akhileshwar Singh of Bariu village under Satbrawa police station in Palamu district of Jharkhand state, and Anurag Singh (19), son of Joginder Singh of Barawadhi village under Kutumba police station in Aurangabad district of Bihar state have been arrested. Satyanath Mallik (47), son of Tijura Mallik of Baliguda police station Budrukia village, Kandhamal district, has been arrested. The Birmaharajpur police have registered a case under NDPS Act 234/27/09/2026, while the Ulunda police have seized a Toyota car (No. JH-01-HG-9896) with 22.58 kg of ganja. However, the police have not been able to arrest the accused. The accused fled the scene after leaving the car loaded with ganja in the forest of Ulunda area. The police have identified the accused and will be arrested soon. The Ulunda police have registered a case 188/28/09/2026,U/s- 20(b)(ii)(C)/25/29 under NDPS ACT. In Subarnapur district, 121 cases of ganja, 10 cases of cough syrup and 1 case of opium have been registered from 01/01/2026 to 27/09/2026. 173 people have been arrested in ganja cases and 44 four-wheelers, 65 two-wheelers, 4 trucks and 151 mobile phones have been seized. 9 four-wheelers, one truck and 26 mobile phones have been seized in cough syrup cases, according to police sources.
