Mamata Banerjee considering alliance without Congress: Sanjay Rout

Mumbai, 5/12:Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday claimed that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is considering an alliance without the Congress. Raut also claimed in his weekly column ‘Rokhthok’ in Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana that Banerjee has said that her party Trinamool Congress (TMC) will not conduct political trials in Maharashtra.

 

Notably, the TMC leadership on Saturday said it would continue to form an alternative front as the Congress “failed to lead the fight” against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Banerjee had said during her recent visit to Mumbai that “there is no UPA now”. is gone. Recently in ‘Jago Bangla’ it was also claimed that not Congress leader Rahul Gandhi but Mamata Banerjee has emerged as the face of the opposition against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

 

A Shiv Sena MP, which shares power with the NCP and Congress in Maharashtra, on Sunday claimed that “it seems Banerjee is contemplating something new by keeping the Congress out”. He also claimed that during his meeting with Shiv Sena leader and state minister Aaditya Thackeray here a few days ago, Banerjee had said that “we will not come here as Shiv Sena and NCP are strong”.

 

The Rajya Sabha member said that the TMC is going to contest the upcoming assembly elections in the neighboring state of Goa and is also expanding its footprint in the north-eastern states of Tripura and Meghalaya. He said that during his visit to Mumbai, Banerjee had discussed the exchange of tourism and culture between the two states with Aaditya Thackeray. He also invited Thackeray to the upcoming Kolkata International Film Festival
