JSW Foundation Recognized for Exceptional CSR Initiatives in Sambalpur and Jharsuguda Districts at the 15th India CSR Summit & Awards

In a significant recognition of its continuous efforts towards the holistic development of Odisha, the JSW Foundation was awarded the prestigious India CSR Viksit Odisha Award – Serving People and Economy at Large at the 15th India CSR Summit & Awards held on January 23, 2025, at Hotel Excellency in Bhubaneswar. The award was presented in acknowledgment of JSW Group’s outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in the Sambalpur and Jharsuguda districts of Odisha,where the company operates its key facilities, including JSW Bhushan Power and Steel Ltd. (BPSL), JSW Energy Utkal Ltd.

The India CSR Viksit Odisha Award recognizes organizations that have demonstrated exceptional contributions to the economic, social and environmental development of Odisha. JSW Foundation’s CSR initiatives have created transformative change in the regions, impacting the lives of people in Sambalpur and Jharsuguda through sustainable development programmes across healthcare, education, infrastructure, women’s empowerment and community welfare.Key projects of the JSW Foundation include flagship initiatives like the JSW Udaan Scholarship, Model Anganwadi Centers and Mo-School Abhiyan support. In healthcare,operationof Mobile Medical Unit, Community Dispensary and establishment of Trauma Care Center at Jharsuguda District Hospital along with thesupport for the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan through the Nikshay Mitra initiative.

In infrastructure development, JSW has constructed Udyog Vihar, Golebazar, and Sambalpur, renovated the Sambalpur Bus Stand, and installed streetlights from Prasanna Pattnaik Chowk to Biju Pattnaik Chowk. Ongoing projects include a town hall in Rengali and Thelkoloi Kalyan Mandap. The foundation also develops rural infrastructure, constructing community centers, community toilets across the districts. Additionally, JSW promotes sanitation, entrepreneurship, and women’s empowerment, focusing on skill development and employment generation to improve the socio-economic conditions of local communities.

The 15th India CSR Summit & Awards, themed Fostering CSR in Odisha: Showcasing Odisha’s Pioneering CSR Initiatives, highlighted the transformative potential of CSR in addressing key challenges faced by Odisha’s communities. The summit brought together policymakers, corporate leaders and community stakeholders to discuss the role of CSR in shaping a sustainable future for Odisha. JSW Foundation’s award reflects its deep-rooted commitment to creating long-term positive change and contributing to the social, economic and cultural development of the state.
