Khurda Road Division of East Coast Railway celebrated the 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm at the Playground, Retang Colony, near Sri Sathya Sai Samiti, Khurda Road.
On the occasion, Shri D. Sunil, Divisional Railway Manager, Khurda Road, unfurled the National Flag and took the Guard of Honour presented by contingents of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Civil Defence, Bharat Scouts & Guides, and school children from PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Srijan Kunj, and Mixed Higher Secondary School, Khurda Road.
The ceremonial parade comprised two RPF platoons—one women’s platoon and one men’s platoon—along with a platoon of Bharat Scouts & Guides and Civil Defence personnel, accompanied by the band team. Students and children from Mixed Higher Secondary School, Khurda Road, and PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Srijan Kunj, also participated in the celebrations, adding colour and enthusiasm to the occasion.
The celebrations were enriched by vibrant cultural performances by students of PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Srijan Kunj, Mixed Higher Secondary School, Khurda Road, and Bharat Scouts & Guides, showcasing patriotism, unity and national pride.
Addressing the gathering, Shri D. Sunil extended his warm greetings to all railway employees and their families on the occasion of Independence Day. He highlighted the significant achievements of Khurda Road Division during the year and appreciated the officers and staff for their continuous hard work, dedication and commitment.
The DRM particularly appreciated the collective efforts of the officers and staff of Khurda Road Division, which have enabled the Division to maintain its top position in freight loading among all divisions of Indian Railways during the current financial year. He stated that this achievement reflects the dedication, teamwork and relentless efforts of the entire railway family.
During the celebrations, Shri D. Sunil interacted with print and electronic media representatives, expressing appreciation for their role in highlighting the Khurda Road Division’s achievements. He emphasized that constructive media engagement is essential for enhancing public awareness and ensuring transparency..
In recognition of the exceptional efforts and round-the-clock service rendered by railway employees, all departments of Khurda Road Division were awarded cash awards for their hard work and outstanding contributions to the Division’s performance.
Smt. Priyanka Jeevaraj, President, East Coast Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (ECoRWWO), Khurda Road, was present on the occasion along with Shri P.K. Behera, ADRM (OP), and Shri Rajdhari Yadav, ADRM (Infra), Khurda Road Division. Members of ECoRWWO were also present. All Branch Officers of the Division attended the programme along with railway employees and their families.
The programme was coordinated by Shri Ponna Venkatesh, Sr. Divisional Personnel Officer, Khurda Road, whose efforts contributed to the smooth and successful conduct of the Independence Day celebrations.
