Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee and officially reprimanded for breaching the International Cricket Council (ICC) Code of Conduct during the One Day International (ODI) against England in Lahore on October 26. The ICC announced the sanctions on its website.Rauf was found to have violated Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which pertains to conduct contrary to the spirit of the game. He received one demerit point for the offence, increasing his total to five after his third breach within 24 months. The incident occurred at the conclusion of the 46th over of Pakistan’s innings. At the non-striker’s end, Rauf appealed for a wide delivery and subsequently engaged in an argument with England all-rounder Will Jacks. Despite a warning from umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid, Rauf raised his bat and persisted in the exchange before brushing past the umpire while returning to his position.Separately, England were fined 15 per cent of their match fee for bowling three overs fewer than required after accounting for time allowances. Under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which addresses minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee per over not completed within the allotted time. Both Rauf and England captain Harry Brook admitted their respective offences and accepted the sanctions proposed by Jeff Crowe of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, obviating the need for formal hearings. The charges were brought by on-field umpires Rashid Riaz and Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid, third umpire Wayne Knights, and fourth umpire Nassir Hussain.
