New Delhi, 26/2: The schedule of IPL 2022 has been decided. The 10 teams of the T20 league are divided into 2 groups. Group teams will play 2-2 matches against each other. At the same time, they have to play one match with 4 teams of the other group and 2 matches with another team. In this way, each team has to play 14-14 matches. The tournament will start from March 26, while the final will be played on May 29. A total of 74 matches are to be played in the current season of the tournament. This includes 70 league round matches and 4 playoff matches. The BCCI has decided to hold the league round matches only in Maharashtra. The league round matches will be played at three venues in Mumbai and Pune. The venue of where the playoffs will be played has not been decided yet. But the matches can be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The full schedule of the tournament may be released soon.

Talking about Group-A, in addition to 5-time champion Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants have got a place. At the same time, in addition to 4-time champion Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans have been included in Group-B. But the playoff will not be decided by the top team of both the groups. 4 teams from the same group can reach the knockout round.

Even though 10 teams are divided into two groups. But which team was at number-1 and which was at the last position. It will be decided after the league round. That is, on the basis of points, which team was from number one to 10, it will be decided. In such a situation, if 4 teams of a group have the most points, then they will reach the playoffs. This is completely different from the rules of T20 World Cup. In the World Cup, the top-2 team of each group got a place in the semi-finals. Former Indian batsman Aakash Chopra said that I liked the rule of IPL more, because every team has to play at least one match against 9 opposing teams.
