New Delhi, 12/3: Congress had entered the UP elections this time with the slogan ‘I am a girl, I can fight’. Congress had fielded 148 women candidates in this assembly election, out of which only one Congress Legislature leader Aradhana Mishra Mona has won.
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi had talked about giving 40 percent tickets to women in the elections to represent half the population and she also fulfilled her promise. Unnao rape victim’s mother got just so many votes
From Unnao’s Sadar seat, Congress gave ticket to Asha Devi, mother of the Unnao rape survivor. Congress also engaged its team of workers from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh in his election campaign, but Asha Devi could get only 1555 votes.
