New Delhi, 21/5 (AO Bureau):Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has said that he and Kuldeep Yadav can play together in Team India, provided Ravindra Jadeja should be a medium pacer for this. Famous Kuldeep and Chahal duo from ‘Kool-Cha’ have performed well so far but both of them have not been seen in the team together for some time. Jadeja is an all-rounder but after his poor form, he dropped out of the limited overs team in 2017, although he managed to make a comeback after a year.
Jadeja has done very well recently as an all-rounder and because of him, the team management gives priority to the spinner of the same wrist. Hardik Pandya is also unable to bowl since the injury, Kuldeep is kept in the team but on most occasions he has been seen on the bench only. Chahal said in a conversation with ‘Sports Tak’ that when he and Kuldeep used to play together, Hardik also bowled.
He said, ‘Hardik was also in the team at that time and used to bowl. In the year 2018, Hardik got hurt and Ravindra Jadeja returned (limited overs format). He is an all-rounder and can also bat at No. 7. But it is unfortunate that he is also a spinner, in such a situation, Jadeja should have been a medium pacer for me and Kuldeep to play together. This is the demand of the team.
Chahal further said, ‘Kuldeep and I used to play 50-50 (%) matches in every series. Sometimes he would get a chance in three out of 5, sometimes I would. Team combination is the most important and 11 players make a team, in such a situation, ‘Kul-Cha’ is not fit. The team needs an all-rounder who can also bat at number-7. I am happy whether I play or not, but the team is winning. After the 2017 Champions Trophy, Kuldeep and Chahal took charge of the spin department of India and showed strength in many series. Chahal is currently preparing for the tour of Sri Lanka.
