DISTRICT LABOUR OFFICER, NAYAGARH NABBED BY ODISHA VIGILANCE WHILE TAKING BRIBE RS 6,000/- FOR ISSUANCE OF LABOUR CARDS.

Today, i.e. on 12.09.2025, short while ago Sri Chittaranjan Rout, District Labour Officer, Nayagarh has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking bribe of Rs.6,000/- from a Labourer (Complainant) for issuance of labour cards in favour of complt. and other 19 labourers.

The complt. and his colleagues, being poor labourers, were unable to pay the demanded bribe Rs.6,000/-. However, the accused Sri Rout refused to issue Labour Cards unless he was paid the demanded bribe Rs.6,000/-. In the process there was a delay of nearly one year for issuance of cards. Hence, the Complt. reported the matter to Vigilance authorities alleging harassment by Sri Rout. Following this, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed Sri Rout, today while taking bribe Rs.6000/- from the complt. The entire tainted bribe money has been recovered and seized from the possession of Sri Rout, DLO.

There were allegations against Sri Rout for demand of bribes from poor labourers for issue of Labour Cards for which he was under the Vigilance scanner.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being conducted at three locations linked to Sri Rout from DA angle.

In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No.19 dtd.11.09.2025 U/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused Sri Rout, DLO.
