Maoists torch mobile tower, security personnel launch search operation

Rourkela: Armed Maoists on Sunday torched the mobile tower of a private mobile service provider and destroyed costly equipment on Odisha-Jharkhand border.

The red rebels reportedly blew up the mobile tower by bombing it in the Kolbhanga area under the Jaraikela Police Station on the Odisha-Jharkhand border.

Meanwhile, a state of fear gripped the locality after the Maoists torched the mobile tower, which was the only means for them to have access to the mobile services.

On being informed, the security personnel launched a search operation in the area and are gathering information about the movement of the ultras.

The incident comes just a couple of days after a CRPF jawan was martyred while two others sustained critical injuries following an improvised explosive device (IED) blast during an anti-Maoist operation in the Saranda Jungles on Odisha-Jharkhand border.
