California, 5/10: Social media platforms Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram have now been partially restored after being stalled for about 6 hours. Now the question arises that what was the reason for this problem affecting crores of users. It is being told that three platforms were stopped due to a glitch in the company’s domain name system. However, due to this problem, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has also suffered a lot.

What is DNS and what was the problem with it?

According to a Bloomberg report, DNS is like the phonebook of the Internet. This is a tool that converts a web domain like Facebook.com into a real Internet Protocol or IP address. On Monday, there was a technical problem due to the DNS records of Facebook. When a DNS fault occurs, it becomes impossible for Facebook.com to be the user’s profile page.

 

However, it was not that only the big platforms of Facebook were stalled. During this, internal applications like the company’s own e-mail system were also affected significantly. Twitter and Reddit also indicated that employees of the company’s Menlo Park, California, were unable to access offices and conference rooms that opened with the help of security badges.
