Today i.e on 27.05.2026, a short while ago, Sri Sumanta Naik, J.E., National Health Mission (NHM), O/o CDM & PHO, Sundargarh has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance *while demanding and taking bribe of Rs.5000/- from a Contractor to process application for return of ISD amount (Initial Security Deposit) deposited towards repair and renovation of PHC building and staff quarters in Sundargarh district*. Even after completion of the said work by the contractor, the accused J.E was not processing file for release of the security deposit in favour of contractor. Instead, JE Sri Nayak demanded bribe Rs 5,000/- . This tempted the contractor to report the matter to vigilance authorities. Upon receiving the information, today, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed Sri Naik, JE in his office room, while taking bribe Rs.5,000/- from the contractor. *The tainted bribe money of Rs.5000/- has been recovered from the possession of accused Sri Naik, J.E and seized*. Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at 3 locations linked to Sri Sumanta Naik, J.E. from D.A. angle. In this connection, Rourkela Vigilance P.S Case No 03/2026, U/s 7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against the accused Sri Naik, JE .Detailed report follows.
