GIET University Successfully Concludes Three-Day FDP on Outcome-Based Education.

Gunupur:(Correspondent):- Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology University (GIET University), Odisha, Gunupur, successfully concluded a Three-Day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Outcome-Based Education (OBE): Assessment and Evaluation”, organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in association with the National Institute of Technical Teachers’ Training and Research (NITTTR), Kolkata.

 

The FDP, conducted from June 15 to 17, brought together 101 faculty members from various Schools and Departments of the University for an intensive academic engagement focused on strengthening outcome-oriented teaching, learning, and assessment practices.

 

The programme was designed to equip faculty members with the knowledge and practical skills required for the effective implementation of Outcome-Based Education in alignment with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and contemporary quality assurance frameworks in higher education.

 

Over the course of three days, participants underwent comprehensive training on key aspects of OBE, including Vision and Mission formulation, Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs), Course Outcomes (COs), Programme Outcomes (POs), Programme Specific Outcomes (PSOs), CO-PO-PSO Mapping, lesson plan preparation, course file development, assessment and evaluation methodologies, attainment calculations, and quality assurance mechanisms.

 

The sessions were conducted by Dr. Rayapati Subbarao, Associate Professor, NITTTR Kolkata, who provided valuable insights into the practical implementation of OBE through interactive discussions, hands-on exercises, and real-world academic applications. The programme received an enthusiastic response from participants, who appreciated its relevance and practical orientation.

 

During the valedictory session, faculty members shared their feedback and highlighted the programme’s effectiveness in enhancing their understanding of curriculum design, assessment strategies, and outcome attainment processes.

 

Addressing the gathering, Dr. K. Murli Gopal, Principal, School of Engineering and Technology, emphasized the importance of continuous faculty development in maintaining academic quality and institutional excellence. Prof. (Dr.) A. V. N. L. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, GIET University, lauded the efforts of IQAC and NITTTR Kolkata in organizing the programme and encouraged faculty members to incorporate the principles of Outcome-Based Education into their academic practices.

 

In his valedictory address, Dr. Rayapati Subbarao observed that Outcome-Based Education is not merely an accreditation requirement but a transformative educational philosophy that promotes meaningful learning, accountability, and continuous improvement.

 

As a token of appreciation, the resource person was felicitated by the Vice-Chancellor and the Principal, School of Engineering and Technology, for his significant contribution to the success of the programme.
