A 50-year-old man died after being attacked with a wooden plank and a brick in Ramnagar village under Jambu Marine Police limits of Kendrapada district late Tuesday night.The deceased, identified as Tapan Das, confronted the accused Sanjay Mandal when he created a disturbance in the village by abusing locals.Witnesses said Tapan advised Sanjay to stop his behaviour, which triggered an altercation. Enraged, Sanjay struck Tapan with a wooden plank and a brick, causing severe head injuries and heavy bleeding. Villagers rushed Tapan to Kendrapada District Headquarters Hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.Following the incident, Tapan’s wife, Nilu Das, lodged a written complaint at Jambu Marine Police Station. Acting on the complaint, police arrested Sanjay Mandal and brought him in for questioning.Investigators continue to probe the circumstances that led to the fatal assault. The incident has shocked Ramnagar village, where residents demand strict action against the accused. Police assured that further inquiry will determine the motive and sequence of events.
