Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling announced that all medical tests will now be conducted through the Ayushman Card three days before a patient’s hospital admission.Mahaling said the move aims to streamline pre-admission procedures and ensure transparency in healthcare services under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Patients will undergo required medical tests within the Ayushman package before being admitted, allowing hospitals to maintain uniform standards and prevent unnecessary billing.The minister emphasised that hospitals must strictly follow the new guidelines. Any institution failing to comply will face action under the health department’s accountability framework. Mahaling stated that the initiative will help patients receive timely diagnosis and treatment while reducing administrative delays.According to the directive, hospitals will integrate pre-admission testing into the Ayushman Bharat package, ensuring that all diagnostic procedures are recorded digitally. The system will also help monitor hospital performance and improve patient care quality.
