Court Amin Of Bangomunda Tahasil Arrested By Vigilance For Taking Rs 15K Bribe

Balangir: Odisha Vigilance has arrested Nirmalendu Kabi, Court Amin of Bangomunda Tahasil in Balangir district, while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000.The arrest was made on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.According to the Vigilance sources, Kabi demanded the bribe from an applicant for preparing sketch maps and processing the file for partition of land and issuance of separate Record of Rights (RORs/Pattas) in favour of the shareholders. The applicant had submitted a petition for land partition as per rules of the Revenue & Disaster Management Department. When he approached the Court Amin for preparation of the required sketch maps, Kabi allegedly demanded Rs 15,000 as bribe.The applicant then lodged a complaint with the Vigilance authorities. Acting on the complaint, a Vigilance team laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe amount of Rs 15,000. The entire tainted money was recovered from his possession and seized.Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being conducted at three locations linked to the accused to probe his disproportionate assets. A case has been registered against Kabi at Sambalpur Vigilance Police Station under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Investigation is underway.
