Today i.e. on 05.05.2026, a short while ago, Sri Debendra Sahoo, Accountant-cum- Data Entry Operator (ADEO), Junagarh Block, Dist-Kalahandi has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance *while demanding and taking bribe Rs. 6,000/- from a beneficiary to process the file for sanction of a house in his favour under PMAY*. For about one week, he had been requesting the ADEO Sri Sahoo to process the file after his selection as a beneficiary. But, Sri Sahoo demanded bribe Rs.6,000/- from the beneficiary to process his file. Being a poor man, the beneficiary was not able to pay the demanded bribe of ADEO. Finding no other way, beneficiary approached the vigilance authorities narrating his harassment by ADEO Sri Sahoo. Following this, a team of Odisha Vigilance, today, nabbed Sri Sahoo, ADEO, while taking bribe Rs. 6,000/- from the beneficiary. *The entire tainted bribe money Rs.6,000/- from the possession of accused Sri Sahoo and seized*. Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations connected to Sri Sahoo, ADEO from DA angle. In this connection, Koraput Vigilance P.S. Case No. 06 dtd. 04.05.2026, U/s7 P.C (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation of the case is in progress.
