Bhubaneswar: The Balugaon town in Khordha district is all set to host the first-ever Chilika Book Fair, which will take place from April 24 to April 28, 2026.

The five-day book fair will be organised on the premises of Balugaon College, located on the banks of Chilika Lake. A preparatory meeting for the event was held under the chairmanship of Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan at his residence. Members of the Cuttack and Bhubaneswar Publishers’ Association attended the meeting and gave their consent to participate in the fair. They also shared valuable suggestions with the Minister for making the event a grand success. During the five-day fair, around 80 stalls will be set up by reputed publishers from across Odisha, where a wide range of books will be displayed and sold. In addition, several food stalls will also be installed to cater to visitors. On the inaugural day (April 24), Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida and Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan are scheduled to inaugurate the Chilika Book Fair. This initiative is expected to promote reading culture and provide a unique literary platform near the scenic Chilika Lake, attracting book lovers, students, and the general public from the region.
