Flood, incessant rain force closure of schools, Anganwadi centres in these Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar/Bhadrak: In view of the prevailing flood situation and incessant rainfall, the Bhadrak district administration has ordered the closure of Anganwadi centres across six blocks on August 19 as a precautionary measure.

According to an official order, Anganwadi centres in Tihidi, Bhandaripokhari, Chandbali, Basudevpur, Dhamnagar and Bhadrak blocks will remain closed on Wednesday. The decision has been taken keeping in mind the safety and security of children.

Meanwhile, the Sundargarh district administration has ordered the closure of all elementary, secondary and higher secondary educational institutions in the district on August 19.

The closure will also apply to private educational institutions, Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs), Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs), Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs) and Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) in the district.

The administration said the decision was taken in view of continuous rainfall and prevailing adverse weather conditions across the district, with the safety of students being the primary consideration.
