Rayagada:Malaria has claimed the life of another school student in Odisha’s Rayagada district, marking the second malaria-related death reported in the district within a week.The deceased has been identified as Jaysen Kandagari (9), a Class IV student. He was undergoing treatment at Maharaja Krishna Chandra (MKCG) Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, where he succumbed to the disease on Tuesday.Jaysen was a resident of Badakashipadu village and the son of Johan Kandagari. He was staying in the hostel of the Government High School at Atada, which is run by the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Development Department, while pursuing his studies.According to reports, Jaysen was first diagnosed with malaria last month and received treatment at Jamadeipentha Community health Centre (CHC). As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to the Rayagada District Headquarters Hospital for advanced treatment.With no improvement in his health, doctors referred him to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur, on July 7, where he remained under treatment. He died on Tuesday while undergoing medical care.The latest fatality has raised fresh concerns over the spread of malaria in the tribal-dominated district. This is the second malaria-related death reported in Rayagada within the last seven days, prompting renewed attention to disease surveillance and healthcare measures in the region
