Bhadrak: Tension prevailed at Sahapur in Bhadrak district as a group of angry locals set the train check-post on fire as a man died after being hit by a speedy train today.The deceased man has been identified as Abhimanyu Parida of Aradi village under Pirhat police station limits of the district.After the news of Abhimanyu’s unfortunate death got spread in the locality, hundreds of angry villagers came together and set the Sahapur train check-post on fire.This apart, the locals blocked the Bhadrak-Chandabali road by burning tyers and demanded adequate compensation for the kin of the deceased youth. Following this, vehicular movement on the route was heavily disrupted and hundreds of vehicles were also left stranded.A team of the local firefighters after getting information of the fire rushed to the spot and doused the inferno.On being informed about the Abhimanyu’s death and road-blockade by the villagers, cops from Pirhat and Tihidi police stations reached the village and started an investigation into the matter.Police also seized Abhimanyu’s body and sent it for postmortem. Their efforts are also underway to pacify the angry locals and normalize movement of vehicles on the route.
