The deceased was found hanging by a cotton towel (gamucha) wrapped around his neck. Early morning commuters and residents noticed the scene and immediately alerted the Dabugaon police station. Police inspected the scene but were initially unable to identify the body. Later, Dabugaon IIC Lachhami Paraja, Papadahandi Tahsildar Tapan Kumar Nayak, and a scientific team from Nabarangpur arrived to collect evidence and handle the body. Due to the absence of a mortuary facility at the Dabugaon Community Health Centre (CHC), the body was transferred to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Nabarangpur, where it will be preserved in the mortuary for 72 hours to allow family or relatives to identify the deceased.
